Irish Distilleries Honoured at Icons of Whisky Awards

Some of the best known distilleries in Ireland have been honoured at the recent virtual Icons of Whisky 2021 Awards, following on from winners in other regions including North America and Australia.

The overall Distiller of the Year award went to Waterford Distillery, with Echlinville coming in as highly commended in the category. Craft Producer of the Year went to Dingle Distillery, and Glendalough was named as Sustainable Distillery of the Year.

There was a hat trick of awards for Powerscourt Distillery, with Master Distiller Noel Sweeney named the Irish Icons of Whisky Master Distiller and Blender for 2021. Powerscourt was also highly commended in the Visitor Centre Attraction of the Year category and the Campaign Innovator of the Year Category.

Lisa Ryan of the Royal Oak Distillery was named Distillery Manager of the Year and there was further good news for Royal Oak as Woody Kane was named Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year.

On the global awards, TBWA in Dublin was named as Advertising agency of the Year, and Irish Distillers was named as Brand Innovator of the Year. The Tack Room at Adare Manor was named Whisky Hotel Bar of the Year.
